Paul Sweeney Driving School - Driving Test Advice

Your First Driving Lesson
I remember my first lesson years ago. I was excited and yet very nervous because I didn't know what to expect. We have all been there; it’s nothing new. When we meet I will greet you with a warm handshake and a friendly smile. I will need to see your provisional driving license and I will also check your eyesight by asking you to read a car number plate from a short distance.

My job from then on is to put you at ease and help you relax. I will probably ask you a little bit about yourself what your likes and dislikes are. The mood should be relaxed and low key. From then you will find out all about the controls of the car, then after a short while we will do some driving.

Driving should be taken seriously but it should also be fun; so lets have a laugh! If you are not enjoying your lesson, then you won’t learn. Remember you are in a learning environment; a moving classroom. It’s like being back at school but more fun!

What to bring: Your driving license, and yourself! (Some comfortable footwear is also a wise move.)

You will have to successfully carry out two reversing manoeuvres and may also be required to perform an emergency stop.

You must pass both these tests in order to pass the theory test.

The cost for both tests is £31.00

Show Me, Tell Me Test
This requires you to carry out basic safety checks on your driving test vehicle. In order to pass you will need to answer two questions correctly.
